Craig Burris helped us buy our first home. We had just moved to San Diego from the East Coast and had never owned a house. Consequently, we had the usual sticker-shock reaction. After an initial wide-ranging search, we settled on finding a home in the region encompassing Hillcrest, Mission Hills, Kensington, North Park, Golden Hill and neighborhoods in that general area. Needless to say, there was a substantial difference between our dream home and the homes that fit our budget. There were also substantial differences between the compromises I was willing to make and those of my partner. Reconciling these conflicts took quite a while. Craig began by showing us a fairly wide variety of homes, but he quickly developed an understanding of what homes would suit us best. On our many jaunts around town, Craig always showed up with a list of properties that he had seen come on the market, and which he thought we might like. Unless the house had come on the market that day, he generally researched the homes by walking through personally.

Our search was quite lengthy, including a couple of false starts where there were problems with the inspection or multiple buyers bidding. When the market was especially hot, Craig called me as soon as the home came on the market (if it looked like one we'd want). Through all this, Craig never pushed us toward buying a home that wasn't quite what we wanted nor lost patience with our indecision. In the end, we did finally find a wonderful place that met our needs and whims. I would also like to say that Craig had a seemingly infallible sense regarding pricing and bidding. He offered his advice when asked but let us make our own decisions. We recommend Craig to our friends without reservation and would want him to be our agent again if we someday decide to move to a new home.
